Pierre Jancou

morethanoranic.com is the brainchild of Pierre Jancou, 'Cuisinier, restaurateur puis caviste et enfin importateur de vins naturels.'

[Cook, restaurant owner, then wine merchant, and finally, importer of natural wines.]

Pierre's colourful career has seen him working in France, Switzerland and Italy. His colourful background means he is fluent in four languages.

La Crémerie

Pierre spent four years building Caves Miard (at La Crémerie in the sixth arrondissement) into one of the best addresses in Paris for natural wine, before selling up in August 2006 to move back into the restaurant business.

Racines

Racines opened in October 2007, serving 'natural wine and natural food' in the French capital's oldest covered arcade. Using only the finest ingredients, meticulously sourced from across France and Italy, Pierre had another hit on his hands.

Only two months after opening Racines won the prestigious Le Fooding prize for the best cave à manger in Paris.

More than organic

Even within the small world of natural wine Pierre is regarded as an extremist for his obsession with authenticity and his dedication to pure, unsulphured wines.

morethanorganic.com is an expression of his philosophy and his passion.

It has quickly become the number one resource on the net for information on natural, organic, and biodynamic wine.

The Drôme

Pierre sold Racines in October 2009 and is moving to the Drôme to spend more time with his young family. He expects to be opening a table d'hôte there sometime next year (check this site for further details).

Pierre will continue to import his fine italian charcuterie, cheese, and olive oil, and has plans to launch new site selling them, alongside some very natural wines, in the offing.
